“Love must act as light must shine and fire must burn.”
- Fr. James Huntington, OHC
We are a monastic community dedicated to prayer and prison ministry located in Oceano, California
Being a monk I have experienced and studied many a monastic Rule of Life and the Twelve Steps are as authentic a spiritual design for living as I have ever seen. With its approach of admitting to our problem, coming a place of trusting in a Higher Power to help us and giving ourselves up to that Power; taking an honest look at ourselves and being willing to change, making amends to those we have harmed and healing those relationships, and being of service to others is a profound path to spiritual fulfillment and wholeness of life. The short form of the Twelve Steps can be said as:
Trust God.
Clean House.
Help others.
Simple. Profound. Life changing.

"I was in prison and you visited me."

"In 2004 I went to a monastery in Massachusetts and fell in love with the life of monastics. I found there a pattern of living that focused on loving God first above all else. Soon after I sold all my belongings and moved to California."
